Weld procedures and testing in Vista, CA
Code jobs stall when there’s no qualified procedure, the welder records are missing, or nobody has planned the testing. We develop and qualify the WPS/PQR, qualify the welder, run the tests and hand over the documentation package.

What we qualify and test.
Procedures and welders for the parts we weld, and operator qualification through Welding Systems.
Weld procedures (WPS)
The written procedure for a weld: process, base metal, filler, position, and the ranges for settings and technique.
Procedure qualification (PQR)
The record that proves the WPS works: a test weld made to it, then tested, with the results recorded.
Welder qualification
Records showing a welder can make sound welds to the procedure, in the positions the job needs.
The documentation package
WPS/PQR, welder qualification records, material certs (MTRs), weld inspection reports and test results.
What we weld: aluminum, stainless steel including 316, carbon steel, and Inconel, titanium and duplex stainless, by TIG and MIG.

How a code job runs.
The procedure and the test plan are settled before part one.
- 01
Send the drawing
PDF, STEP or DXF, the quantity, the need-by date, and the code or spec your job calls for.
- 02
Get a price and a ship date
In writing, with procedure qualification and any testing priced in. If material pricing holds up the quote, we tell you right away.
- 03
First part checked to print
When a qualified procedure is needed, it’s developed and qualified first. Then part one is welded to it and checked against your drawing.
- 04
The run
Every part is welded to the same procedure, in the same fixture.
- 05
Inspected, tested, documented
Visual weld inspection plus the tests your code or spec requires, then packed and shipped with the documentation package.

Procedure and testing questions.
Do you write and qualify WPS/PQRs?
Yes. We develop weld procedures and qualify them with PQRs to the code your job calls for: AWS D1.1, D1.2, D1.3, D1.4, D1.6, D1.8, ASME Section IX or ASME B31.3. Other codes on request.
Can you qualify our welder or operator?
Yes, through Jones Welding Systems, our newest service. If your operator needs a code qualification, we scope the testing separately and run it in-house or through an independent lab.
Which tests do you do in-house?
Visual (VT), bend tests and dye penetrant (PT). X-ray (RT) and ultrasonic (UT) go through an independent lab when the job calls for them.
Does every job get X-rayed?
No. RT and UT are arranged through an independent lab when your code or spec requires them, and they’re in the quote when they are.
What’s in the documentation package?
Material certs (MTRs), weld inspection reports and test results, plus the WPS/PQR and welder qualification records for code work. Tell us what your spec requires.
Does my part need a code at all?
Not always. If your drawing doesn’t call out a code, we weld to the drawing and inspect visually. If your customer or engineer requires one, tell us which before we quote.
