Carbon steel welding in Vista, CA

When you need 130 of the same steel part, the hard part isn’t the first weld. It’s making the last one match it. We MIG and TIG weld carbon steel assemblies in fixtures, to AWS D1.1 when your job calls for it, with a ship date you can plan around.

Brackets, frames and supports

Steel weldments built to your drawing, from one prototype through a production run.

Pipe and fittings

Shop pipe work such as a carbon steel return bend welded to ASME Section IX. For process piping, see pipe spool welding.

Code work

AWS D1.1 structural steel, D1.3 sheet steel, D1.4 reinforcing steel and D1.8 seismic, when the job calls for it.

What to put on a steel weldment drawing.

Weld symbols and sizes.
We weld to what the drawing calls for. If a symbol is missing or unclear, we ask before we quote.
The code, if there is one.
AWS D1.1 for structural steel, D1.3 for sheet steel, D1.4 for reinforcing steel, D1.8 for seismic. Other codes on request.
The finish.
Powder coat and post-weld machining, done in-house or through our finishing partners and delivered as one job.
The quantity plan.
One prototype now and 200 later? Say so. The fixture built for part one is what keeps the run matching it.

  5. 05

    Inspected, packed, documented

Visual weld inspection, then packed and shipped with material certs, weld inspection reports and test results when your job needs them.

Carbon steel welding questions.

Do you weld to AWS D1.1?

Yes. AWS D1.1 is the structural welding code for steel. When your job calls for it, we develop and qualify the WPS/PQR and qualify the welders. We also work to D1.3 (sheet steel), D1.4 (reinforcing steel) and D1.8 (seismic).

MIG or TIG for carbon steel?

We use both. The joint, the material thickness, the finish and the code decide which one the procedure calls for.

Can you handle production runs?

Yes. We build single prototypes through production runs. One documented example is a 130-piece carbon steel post run, built in a fixture.

Can you powder coat the parts?

Yes. Powder coat and post-weld machining are handled in-house or through our finishing partners, so finished parts come back as one job.

What do you need for a quote?

Your drawing as a PDF, STEP or DXF, the quantity and the date you need the parts. You get a written price and a ship date. If material pricing holds up the quote, we tell you right away. NDA on request.
